FIELD TRIP:
Life Science Museum April 18th: We are leaving at 9:30 and returning to school around 1:30.
We will need parent volunteers to provide twenty small bags of pretzels or goldfish crackers for us to eat snack at the museum.
You will need to pack lunch for your child on April 18th. We are returning after the cafeteria is closed.
Chaperones:
You can follow the bus to the museum or meet us there. We are leaving at 9:30. We will meet back at buses at a quarter to 1 to prepare to leave the museum.
**When we arrive at the museum, we will exchange phone numbers in case we need to reach each other during the field trip.
Parent Conferences:
Please be on the lookout for a signup genius link to sign up for Optional Spring Conferences.
Parent Survey:
Your voice is important to us! In order to learn more about student and family experiences in Wake County Public Schools, we will be asking for your feedback via a Panorama Survey. A link to the Panorama Survey was emailed to you last week.
The survey focuses on learning and engagement, not just at school, but also at home. When schools understand family belief about support and efficacy, they are better equipped to be partners with families and provide them with what they need to support their child's learning at home.
If you did not receive a link for the survey, please email Erika Emelle at [email protected] or Stacey Daniels at [email protected] . A new link can be sent.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey which is vital to our family engagement work.
PTA Updates:

Our next Spirit Night is Tuesday, April 16th at Brixx Pizza in Parkside Town Commons. This is an all day event. Flyers went home with students last week - these forms must be shown at the restaurant for the school to get credit. A copy of the flyer is attached in case it was misplaced.
Our wonderful Technology teacher, Mrs. Craver is raising funds to purchase IPad cases to help ensure that our IPads last. She still needs to raise $431. If you would like to make a donation, it's greatly appreciated!

What are we learning this week?
Reading and Writing:
We are still working on comparing and contrasting two stories on the same topic. We are also still working on identifying short and long vowel sounds in words.
We are learning about informational(non-fiction) writing. This week we will look at different examples and pick out common text features found in this type of writing. We will draft a book together about cats. When we return from trackout, we will each write our own informational book on a topic of our choosing.
Math:
We are adding and subtracting with up to 10 objects this week. We are using different strategies(Drawing a picture, using counting blocks, drawing ten frames, and using number paths). We are adding number bars to our strategy list this week. We are also exploring fact families with addition and subtraction. It would be great to practice fluency with addition and subtraction facts up to 10 at home. This can be done with notecards, flashcards, or quizzing your child verbally with the math facts.
Social Studies:
We are adding on to our My Map book this week. We will add our school map and our bedroom map.
