Updates for this week:
Report Cards: Please be on the lookout for your child’s report card this Friday. Please sign and return the envelope and keep all the documents inside for your records.
Upcoming Field Trip-Life Science Museum April 18th: We have 4 parent volunteers going with us on the trip. We would like to have a couple more volunteers to help us out. Please let us know if you can go with us. If you are not registered as a volunteer, you can still join us and walk with your child(you just wouldn’t be given a group of children to chaperone).
Homework Folders: Please remember to check your child’s green folder daily. Please sign the behavior sheet and check for notes from us.
PTA Updates:
Do you have ideas about how to make our school better? Are you curious about why we have a PTA and what it does? With Parkside opening, there will be many PTA positions to fill throughout the 2019-20 school year with varying time commitments and levels of responsibility. To best support our children and school, we need YOU. Your voice, perspective, skill set and partnership are essential to thrive as a Gator community! Come see how you can make difference in your child’s education! Join us Tuesday, April 2nd at 6:00pm in the Media Center.

What are we learning this week?
Reading and Writing: We are working on using picture clues and clues in the text to figure out what unfamiliar words mean when we are reading. We are also reviewing how to identify how many syllables are in a word.
We are writing the final drafts of our how to books this week. We will move on to writing All About Books (Informative Books) later this week.
Math: We are adding and subtracting with up to 10 objects this week. We are using different strategies(Drawing a picture, using counting blocks, drawing ten frames, and using number paths). We are adding number bars to our strategy list this week. We are also exploring fact families with addition and subtraction. It would be great to practice fluency with addition and subtraction facts up to 10 at home. This can be done with notecards, flashcards, or quizzing your child verbally with the math facts.
Science: We are wrapping up our science unit on weather early this week. We are moving on to our What’s Around Me Unit. We will start by learning about maps, globes, and location words.
