Updates for this week:
FIELD TRIP:
Upcoming Field Trip-Life Science Museum April 18th: We are leaving at 9:30 and returning to school around 1:30.
We will need parent volunteers to provide: Twenty 8oz water bottles and Twenty small bags of pretzels or goldfish crackers for us to eat snack at the museum.
You will need to pack lunch for your child on April 18th. We are returning after the cafeteria is closed.
Chaperones: You can follow the bus to the museum or meet us there. We are leaving at 9:30. We will meet back at buses at a quarter to 1 to prepare to leave the museum.
We would like to have one more volunteer to go with us on the trip. Since the museum will be crowded and there is no structured plan for exploring, we really need additional adults for supervision. Please let us know if you can go with us. If you are not registered as a volunteer, you can still join us and walk with your child(you just wouldn’t be given a group of children to chaperone).
Homework Folders: Please remember to check your child’s green folder daily. Please sign the behavior sheet and check for notes from us. Please take out student work papers over the weekend.
Parent Conferences: Please be on the lookout for a signup genius link to sign up for Optional Spring Conferences.
Parent Survey:
Your voice is important to us! In order to learn more about student and family experiences in Wake County Public Schools, we will be asking for your feedback via a Panorama Survey. A link to the Panorama Survey was emailed to you last week.
The survey focuses on learning and engagement, not just at school, but also at home. When schools understand family belief about support and efficacy, they are better equipped to be partners with families and provide them with what they need to support their child's learning at home.
If you did not receive a link for the survey, please email Erika Emelle at [email protected] or Stacey Daniels at [email protected] . A new link can be sent.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey which is vital to our family engagement work.
SSA:
Please see the information sheet below about nominating your child for SSA.

What are we learning?:
Reading and Writing: We are continuing to compare/contrast two topics on the same topic. We are also working with short and long vowel sounds. We are taking a closer look at words with a silent or magic e.
We are talking about text features we find in informational or All About books. We are writing a class book together on nighttime and cats. Early next week your child will write their own informational book.
Math: We are continuing to work on story problems with addition and subtraction up to 10. We are using all of the strategies that we have gone over(Number bars, number bonds, number paths, drawing circles, and using counting blocks.)
Social Studies: We are learning about different types of maps. This week we are reviewing our location words. We are adding our classroom map to our My Map Book.
