Progress Reports: Progress Reports are coming home on Friday. Please be on the lookout for this in your child’s green homework folder. You will need to sign the progress report and return it in your child’s folder. I make note that you signed it and I will send it back home for you to keep it for your own records.
Toys: Please have your child keep toys at home. We are having an increase of students bringing small toys to school which can cause distractions.
Upcoming Field Trips:

Our next Spirit Night will be March 18th at City BBQ in Cary! This event runs all day long!
Are you interested in learning more about your Alston Ridge PTA and how you can participate? We will hold an information session on April 2nd at 6:00pm to discuss with parents the role of the PTA and how you can participate as a Board Member or a volunteer. With the school reassignment, several current PTA Board Members will move to new schools so we will need new parents to join the Board and help keep Alston Ridge a vibrant and welcoming school for staff and families. Reading and Writing: This week we are working on identifying whether books are fiction or nonfiction and explaining why. We are also working on telling the difference between words with short vowels and long vowels.
We are still reading and writing how tos. We are going to write about how to make a pizza. Later in the week, we are picking a topic and writing our own how to book on how to complete a specific task.
Social Studies: We are starting our unit on weather this week. We are describing different types of weather and what types of clothing we need to wear in different kinds of weather. We will make rain gauges later this week and start thinking about what topic we want to complete our research projects on.
Math: We are still working on the different ways to build the number 10. Later in the week we will work on finding number combinations for other numbers.
