Math Night is Thursday March 14th 6:00pm. Math Night is a fun and informative event for parents and their students. Parents will find out what their students are learning in math and what resources can support their learning. Students will practice their math skills and learn mathematical topics beyond their everyday schoolwork. The children may do activities they can take home and find out about digital resources to support their learning. The RSVP link has closed - all parents are still invited to attend even if you have not RSVPed, however you will not receive a data packet for your child.
Are you interested in learning more about your Alston Ridge PTA and how you can participate? We will hold an information session on Tuesday, April 2 to discuss with parents the role of the PTA and how you can participate as a Board Member or a volunteer. With the school reassignment, several current PTA Board Members will move to new schools so we will need new parents to join the Board and help keep Alston Ridge a vibrant and welcoming school for staff and families. We need your help and look forward to seeing you April 2nd at 6:00pm!
On Feb. 20, WCPSS Northwest Superintendent, Seydric Williams, introduced Mr. Schutte as the new principal at a congratulatory breakfast! The PTA, with the very generous support of Sheetz, provided donuts, bagels, coffee, and juice for the ARE staff to welcome Mr. Schutte. His first official day is March 11.
We currently have 2 fundraisers running on DonorsChoose, org - our Technology teacher, Ms. Craver is raising money for IPad covers and the library staff is raising money for ink for their color printers. If you would like to donate to either, it would greatly appreciated!

Reading and Writing: We are learning how to make connections between two books, two people, two events, and two facts. We are also learning how text and illustrations/pictures work together to provide information.
We are still writing our how to books and working towards completing our final draft.
Science: We learned more about forecasting and about the job of a meteorologist. We are picking the topics for our research projects later this week.
Math: We are now working on making story problems(word problems) to go with building numbers up to 10.
