Box Tops: We are having our Spring Collection for Box Top labels. The deadline will be Monday, February 25th. The class with the most box tops will win a prize. Box Tops can be found on some items like: tissues, ziploc bag containers, school supplies, and some food items.
-Dr. Seuss Week-
This week is Read Across America Week and we will be celebrating all week in our classroom! We will be reading several Dr. Seuss books and the children will be participating in a variety of extension activities!
Tuesday March 5th: Fox in Socks- Wear Silly Socks
Wednesday March 6th: Wacky Wednesday- Dress as wacky/tacky as you can(mismatched prints, inside out or backwards clothes)
Thursday March 7th: Oh the Places You’ll Go- Wear your favorite jersey or a shirt from a trip you’ve taken.
Friday March 8th: Character Parade- Dress up like your favorite book character! We will have a kindergarten parade to show off our costumes to the whole school. :)

Upcoming Field Trips:
-The Theater on March 25th: We got an update that that there will not be enough extra seats in the theatre for parents to attend. All students will need to pack lunch that day since we will be returning after noon. We will eat lunch in the classroom when we return.
-Life Science Museum on April 18th - We still need chaperones for this trip.
Reading and Writing: We are learning how to infer this week. We are learning how to use text clues and background knowledge to make educated guesses about information that the author doesn’t include. We are also working on using picture clues and text clues to figure out what unfamiliar words mean.
This week we are picking a topic and writing our own how to book on how to complete a specific task. We will conference with the teacher and edit and proofread before writing a final draft of our how tos.
Social Studies: We made our rain gauges early this week and we practiced measuring water in them. This week we will learn about the different types of clouds.
Math: We are working on how to build the numbers nine and ten. We are showing the different combinations using different methods(drawing with pencil/paper, connect cubes, and counters).
